Changing of the Seasons: an Independent Oregon TL

What are Omenic Weapons, specifically? Cuz I assume Pandoric Weapons is a catch-all for WMDs in TTL, and Radiation Bombs are obvious, but I'm not sure about Omenics

This looks like Russia and Brazil are allies.
I'm sure banning ICE did not worsen the food production at all, no sir.
Is the current Arabia the "Second Arab Republic"? Is it coterminous with the first, or the second?

Yeesh Western europe and USA having... 65-70 yo life expectancy, somewhere between IRL Sudan and India; while Austria-Hungary is comparable to our Chad or Centrafrica. Central africa seems at.... IRL 1980s-2000s rate, not good. Really does highlight the inland/coastal difference in Africa. Some interesting outliers, particulalry in East Africa, Ukimbu/Gikuyu/Sabakia, must have good educations, or be wealthy.

Is Operation phalange still ongoing? Gotta keep repopulating LEO and SSO with debris...

Its nice seeing a surviving West Indies Federation, as well as the alternative forms of governments (kurultai, Ama-ala , etc). Also holy cow an intentional Kessler syndrome?? That must suck for any sci fi author, ...and anyone unfortunate enough to be in space when it happened.

Whoever in universe decided that a Kessler Syndrome was a good idea needs to be fired

I mean, the storm isn't permanent. The debris will fall back down to earth eventually (AKA many centuries- that's not even counting storms formed by large elliptical orbits). Hopefully a big asteroid dosen't arrive in that timespan, because there isn't much anyone can do about it.

My point still stands.

If you are worried about the militarisation of space (A) spy on the countries that are threatening to militarise space, and (B) build whatever defences you can.

Don't ruin it for everyone else. That's like cutting off your arm because you have a splinter in your finger.

True. Really I'm suprised something like this didn't start a 2nd great war. I guess because Australasia was the only other space-capable nation?

So how does Ryuku control so many outlying islands (idk if it controlled them when it was independent IOTL) and what interests prompt Buenos Aires to own the Falklands and thr other islands, yet Brazil as continental hegemon has the least useful of them all? Is that a way for Brazil to 'own' them by proxy thru its vassal?
The government of Ryukyu was originally a Japanese government-in-exile, and as such absorbed some of the Japanese Pacific territories along with their navy

Omenic weapons are a broad term for all nuclear weapons (with radiation bombs being like dirty bombs)
What is the situation with Korea?
The Korean Empire is one of a few remaining absolute monarchies, although the recent famine and crisis in the region is shaking their foundations
Also, why is BNEE opposed to individual rights? What is their alternative to it? And what's their ideology like (roughly) anyway?
The BNEE considers itself to be one individual, with all citizens being 'cells' of the greater body, so individual rights wouldn't really apply

Sadly that wont be possible, as until the late 21st-early 22nd century all rocket launches will be blocked by the debris cloud

All jokes aside, Operation Phalange is one interesting part of the TL as it highlights the max 'crazyness' of the GDC, brought about by the paranoid siege mentality of its members. Interestingly, the GDC is arguable less powerful than the OTL UN, as there are no global norms or international laws for them to enforce (though this is not through lack of trying on their part), and they have only limited means of enforcement within and without their spheres of influence. One reason Operation Phalange was so easily done was that only GDC member states (US, Brazil, BNEE, and Australasia) had developed space programs by that point. Another reason it went through (and at great cost, launching a hundred multi-ton slag bombs into orbit ain't cheap) was because it was massively popular in both the governments of most countries and amongst the public. For the members of the GDC, who had less than two decades earlier survived the 61 plague only through banding together, the thought of one country being able to bombard another from orbit was too much to bear. The GDC countries for the most part hate each other, and operate mostly in a sort of 'balance of power' system alongside their blocs and the major non-GDC countries. For a loyal cell of the BNEE, who had just twenty years before lost most of his family, and having heard that the hated Australasian's (whose 'individualism' was to blame for the plague wars in the first place according to him) would be capable of destroying him and his nation from space, would understandably support even extreme measures. Even in Australasia, there was widespread apprehension about engaging in space travel, and public anger was more about the destruction of the Vanguard and the attack on Australasian sovereignty than on the end of space travel. Of course, in the modern day opinions on the operation are more mixed as the depths of the negative and positive externalities come to light.

Overall, the paranoid zeal of the Global Defense Council and most nations around the world ITTL is a mixed blessing. While it leads to some benefits, like a more aggressive battle against Climate Change, it can lead to objectively poor decisions, like cutting off space from humanity for over a century.

Leaders of the Commonwealth of Great Britain, 1963 - present

Following its crushing defeat during the Great War, the United Kingdom split apart. When the royal family fled the increasingly unstable country to Sydney in 1959, a hole was made, that was filled with an eccentric and strange political organization. The Anglo-Saxon Workers Party of Britain was founded in the 1940s as a 'national socialist' party, influenced by the 'agrarian idyll' and 'Anglo-Saxon purity' as espoused by John Tolkien and E.A. Freeman. Upon taking control of the country, the ASWP attempted to reorganize it in an Ultranostalgic manner, going as far as to attempt to create a 'pure' form of English without foreign language influence, called Anglisc (despite decades of trying, this has not caught on). While throughout the 80s to 2010s Britain moved forward with mostly pragmatic socialist policies (if isolationist and genocidal), the ascension of Edward (born Paul) Kingsnorth and his radical faction upended English politics. Kingsnorth presided over several disastrous reforms to the British agriculture and industrial system, resulting in a famine and political crisis. While Kingsnorth was overthrown in 2022, Great Britain is still struggling to recover from his policies.

You have built a fascinatingly fucked up world here and you have my plauditz. Still, Kessler syndrome being seen as a public positive is so deliciously insidious..... what is the average opinion about this in non-GDC countries? Are there any people who are disseminating information about the potential opportunities for better everything that is now taken away from the world without their consent?

Yikes, I guess that explains why Britain had such a bad famine--they had their own version of Pol Pot! So I'm guessing that the ASWP is essentially an ecofascist party? I know the paragraph says that they did some socialist policies, but there does seem to be a lot of focus on wacky racial pseudoscience.

Also, I don't know if this is only a problem on my side, but the Eurasian Famine image doesn't seem to be loading properly.

I would presume it's a romantic/fascist style revival of a historical title (Pendragon being King Arthur'd mythical surname) in the same vein as fuhrer
I think, Bretwalda or so would be better. Because Pendragon is the persinal epithet, not tithe ath first, and Welsh, at second.
