Would a democratic or even independent communist Bulgaria have had the elite or popular sentiment to ever take an anti-Russian policy however?
I doubt very much even a Bulgaria without Communists in the government would be willing to become a member of NATO's eastern flank like Greece and Turkey. What do y'all think?
And Bulgaria is one of the few Warsaw Pact members, like Czechoslokia, where I imagine domestic communist support & Russophilia could combine to make a mainly domestic communist takeover, without a Soviet occupation, occur.
