Kate Hollis: "Frank Wants to Reshape Politics"

The wife of Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee Frank Hollis sparked controversy tonight as she seemed to suggest that Mr Hollis had plans to pursue an agenda that may diverge from the parties nominee, California Senator Sam Seaborn.

Mrs Hollis, who is the Chief Executive of Hollis Industries and Hollis Media, said that her husband had accepted the position because he felt that "Washington was in desperate need of change" and that he "wants to reshape politics".

The comments are the latest in a string of comments by the VP nominee and his inner circle that suggest they are not totally aligned to the Seaborn message and agenda and led to a number of questions to senior campaign figures today.

Campaign chairwoman CJ Cregg responded to questions from the press corps saying "Frank Hollis was picked because he's an independent thinker - we have no desire to temper his instincts like you suggest, we don't doubt his desire to reshape politics - we embrace it, support it and the idea that it's somehow divergent from the Senator's agenda is totally wide of the mark."

Perlman: Gault Needs To Be Nominee

Former Treasury Secretary Max Perlman this morning became the highest profile Republican to break ranks and endorse Kansas Governor Peter Gault ahead of the Republican National Convention next month.

Perlman, a former Texas Congressman who was elevated to Treasury Secretary by President Owen Lassiter backed the Governor in an op-ed for Townhall.com where he called Gault "the exact remedy that Washington needs". The article was written on the back of a weekend meeting between the pair at Gault's home near Topeka.

The article will come as another blow to former White House Chief of Staff Henry Shallick who will go into the convention with a delegate lead and a strong expectation that he will emerge as the nominee on the back of near unanimous establishment support, the likes of Secretary Perlman breaking ranks will cause great concern for Shallick.
