  1. A House Divided Against Itself: An 1860 Election Timeline

Whew! I finally got caught up, after almost a year away from the AH discussion board. Great job! I was unaware of Rose O'Neal Greenhow and her real-world machinations until reading this post. I wonder if we'll see her continue her efforts in prison as she did in OTL.
  2. A House Divided Against Itself: An 1860 Election Timeline

Very well written! So after the war starts, will Lincoln go visit Morton and offer his total support, as Douglas did for Lincoln in OTL?
  3. A House Divided Against Itself: An 1860 Election Timeline

Tomorrow morning? I guess that won't be so bad - I'll check back at noon ;-)
  4. A House Divided Against Itself: An 1860 Election Timeline

I just skimmed through this timeline - very nice! Stephen A. Douglas living at least three more years after his death in our timeline was interesting. I wonder if this timeline will eventually have a Douglas Memorial instead of Lincoln's LOL!
  5. Decisive Darkness: What if Japan hadn't surrendered in 1945?

With all the discussions concerning how many more Japanese have died or will die in this timeline because of the extension of the conflict beyond August 1945, here is a quote from page 6 of a recent article published on the anniversary of the second atomic bomb being dropped...
  6. Alternate Histories written like a nonfiction textbook

Try Peter Tsouras - especially his Britannia's Fist trilogy (the third book of which will be coming out next February).
  7. Any News on the Third book of Brittainia's Fist?

Finally a release date: February 3, 2015 http://www.amazon.com/Bayonets-Balloons-Ironclads-Britain-France/dp/1629144622/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400945210&sr=8-1&keywords=peter+tsouras+balloons I am encouraged that both the cover and title ("Bayonets, Balloons, and Ironclads: Britain and...
  8. Upcoming AH books

Tsouras' next book announced http://www.amazon.com/DISASTER-AT-STALINGRAD-Alternate-History/dp/1848326637/ Unfortunately (for me, at least) it's not the next entry in the Britannia's Fist/Rainbow of Blood series.
  9. The Hero of Saratoga: The Presidency of Benedict Arnold

Um, 189-142 in the Electoral College but 72%-28% in the popular vote? Also, the total size of the vote is also much smaller than 1844 in OTL.
  10. Age of Aztec by James Lovegrove

http://www.amazon.com/Age-Aztec-James-Lovegrove/dp/1907992812/ref=tmm_mmp_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1333919662&sr=8-1 This is the fourth book in the Pantheon Series, a set of stand-alone novels/universes, each focusing on a different culture's mythological gods. "Age of Aztec" is definitely an...
  11. "Manhattan Projects" - new AH comic book series

http://www.imagecomics.com/comics/4621/The-Manhattan-Projects-1 "What if the research and development department created to produce the first atomic bomb was a front for a series of other, more unusual, programs? What if the union of a generation's brightest minds was not a signal for...
  12. Look to the West -- Thread II

Pablo Sanchez So I didn't start reading until after Volume III started, but I have gone back and read #100. Just to make sure though, I have to ask: Pablo Sanchez is a fictional character, right? :)
  13. Has anyone read Britannia's fist?

Timmy, thanks for the info - I definitely enjoyed both books and would definitely enjoy an eventual end to this trilogy, which I predict would leave open the possibility of a second one. (The first one ending with the outbreak of the World War from the Civil War.)
  14. Opinions on Newt Gingrich: The AH Writer?

Electric Monk, thanks for the information. I was unaware of any of this. It does explain how 1945 turned out as it did.
  15. Opinions on Newt Gingrich: The AH Writer?

I thought that 1945 had promise but did not deliver. I was not surprised that there was never a sequel. However, I do think that the Gettysburg trilogy was very good and the first two installments of the Days of Infamy series were as well. Unfortunately, the series has not yet been finished...
  16. Has anyone read Britannia's fist?

The second book was delayed so many times that I think it did not end up in many bookstores, which would decrease sales and I would suppose may prevent the publication of a third volume. (At the very least, if I was the publisher I would be absolutely sure of a publication date before...
  17. Himmler's War-novel by Robert Conroy

Okay the book came out today in the U.S. and I gave it a quick read earlier this afternoon. Minor spoiler #1: This "super-weapon" is (in my opinion) what stretched credibility the most. Minor spoiler #2: If you've read Conroy's other WW II alternate history books (1942, 1945 and 1945: Red...
  18. Big Switch

I've read it and also know the major butterfly, which I wish we could discuss as well.
  19. Advise and Consent TL

Let's put aside what precise year it is. Advise and Consent is set in the spring before an election year (like now!), Shade of Difference occurs that fall, Capable of Honor is the spring and early-to-mid summer of that election year, Preserve and Protect is late summer of that same election...
