  1. Lands of Red and Gold, Act II

    This should clear it up:)
  2. Lands of Red and Gold, Act II

Then why don't you try this:
  3. Lands of Red and Gold, Act II

Jared has asked me to post this, since the map is done but post 100 is still in the works, as something to hold everyone’s interest. South East Aururia and Aotearoa in the year 1700, showing the struggle of colonising powers.
  4. Lands of Red and Gold, Act II

wrt trading goods with the Aururians, the Europeans may have some success with textiles. In SE Asia what exchanged well for spice was the chintzes and silks of Bengal, and I could see it easily happen in Aururia. In Tasmania bulky textiles exchanged for bulky cider gum, even? Perhaps the...
  5. Map Thread XI

Blast from the past! Do you have the original of mine floating around anywhere, Bruce? I'd really like to see it, and I can't remember a thing about it.
  6. Map Thread X

Ugh. First map I've made in ages, and the damn labels have gone crazy.:( I'm sure someone here could assemble them in the right order ;) Some names might get changed as I get closer to the finished product. POD 1815. I'll answer questions if people can guess the nations correctly. :D
  7. Map of the Fortnight: Main thread

    Petting Zoo sounds neat
  8. Map Thread IX

This rules. Good use of a very precise base map, unique idea, good colour scheme with a key. Very creative, and I'd like to see more of it.
  9. Map of the Fortnight: Main thread

I'm in the process of making mine atm, I just hope I can get it done in time.
  10. Map of the Fortnight: Main thread

Stuff the rest of them, this is a good idea. So many of the recent challenges haven't been POD spectific, so it would be a nice change.
  11. Look to the West -- Thread II

Its a very nice map, but isn't Constantinople on the European side of the Bosphorus?
  12. Rememberences of Map Contests Past

This bears repeating. The reason the maps were original was because they were not just copy/paste jobs of the same old basemap/colour scheme. You have things completely backwards DrTron. It is good to see all these old maps again, a good reminder to finish some of my projects!

    My entry for MoF 50
  14. MotF 50: Fifty Years is a Long Time

getting my entry in just in time. This could be ocnsidered a followup to my map for MoF 46. A more Hellenic western med leads to the eventual unification of Italy and Spain by the Samnites. United by the state worship of Hercules, the Samnite domain expands westward and eastward. Their...
  15. Map of the Fortnight: Main thread

That's a terrible name. Stop suggesting new names for challenges when the first is perfectly serviceable. The challenge is a good idea for MoF 50, so I support 50 Years is a long time
  16. MotF 47: If Death Had Come Later - Voting thread

There were a lot of very good maps in this round. I voted for tormsen as I liked the clean style of map and the idea. I was toying with doing something about Timur but couldn't come up with anything.
  17. Map Thread VIII

You should check out the Inkscape thread. Its a good starting point for doing vector maps, plus the program is free. I'd love to see the results of you using Inkscape. :) Yeah there have been some very interesting and diverse entries this round.
  18. Map Thread VIII

Cross-posted from the latest MoF I tried a different style to other maps I've made, so some feedback would be nice. I'm going for a fake-printing-error look.
  19. MotF 47: If Death Had Come Later

The conqueror for my map was Alexander of Molossus. His invasion goes better, Alexander doesn't die at the battle of Pandosia. Defeats the Samnites, takes Benevento and it becomes the capital of the Kingdom of Italy, renamed Alexandria. * A period of Hellenisation followed in his wake, and...
  20. A Tall Glass of Piemonade

This raises further questions. 1) Why didn't France open Japan in OTL? 2) Why and How would France conquer Japan? 3) Why would they sell it to America? and why would America buy it? The problem here is a lack of critical thinking skills and research on your behalf. Which is OK, since...
