AH Cliches from Alternate Worlds

Here post AH cliches from other TLs.

I will start.

1.Europe is always either ignored or shown as some vague unified state, when in fact, it was as disunified as India.

2. Japan is always part of China, when it was entirely independent until the 17th century. Why can't someone make a timeline with an expansionist Japan?

3. Airships. Why do people think airships are likely? :D

4. The Tver/Caliphate border goes without saying.

5. Whenever they can, fixed-wing areoplanes will appear, no matter how unlikely and despite the fact that zeppelins are so much more practical.:D

6. The North American major power always has some ridiculous straight line border with its neighbor to the north, despite the fact that the northern nation would be so much weaker and smaller. Apparently the major power never decides to invade!

The Germans and Italians always unite into a single country. Everyone knows that Austria will always prevent either of these from happening.

If the American colonies actually defeat Britain and become an independent country, that country almost always ends up reaching right across North America. In any realistic timeline, Britain would spare no expense to make sure that didn't happen, allying with Spain or Mexico to keep their onetime colonists from going west of the Rockies, or even the Mississippi.

The Russian Empire always falls into revolution and gets replaced by some socialist republic/union, and worse yet nobody tires to intervene. How unrealistic is this? Everybody knows if this actually happened, the rest of Europe would put a stop to it and put the Czar back on the throne.

That crazy artists will become dictators. Just because we had Rudolph Valentino and Charlie Chaplin and H.P. Lovecraft in OTL doesn't mean that Hitler or Picasso will come to power as anything but a celebrity figurehead.

The Jews always get pwned...I mean, a pretty big cliche is the Romans destroying our Temple and us getting scattered across the globe...and for some bizzare reason we always get on the wrong side of every ruler...

I can't fathom a world without the Temple! I dare say our faith may have never survived past that, much less number 200 million strong.

To say nothing how if we do miraculously return to the Holy Land, we turn Israel into some sort of secularized uber parliamentary democracy instead of a good and proper Kingdom.

Then there's that "Christianity" sect arising to dominate the globe. Complete heresy I tell ya!

 :D

Moses is always some bare-chested commando-priest who has high-end kung-fu powers and flamethrowers, and always beats the shit outta the Egyptians in the end.

I don't get why the Ottoman Empire falls in so many TLs. It is so unlikely as to be absurd. I mean, sure, perhaps the Turks wouldn't conquer Austria and such, but still...

One thing I've never been able to buy are those scenarios that have the United States win the Cold War through, get this, "economic strength." First off, all capitalist economies are good for are producing goods like weeds, with no regard to the needs of either the population or the state. You need a centralized plan in order to decide what gets produced in what year, and how to equitably distribute the finished goods. C'mon, guys, it's not exactly rocket science here.

Besides, what good can a profit margin do against good old-fashioned SS-20s?

And why does something always happen to thwart the growth of the Guinean Empire... Even worse, no other African Empire arises to take its place... and yet Brazil always tends to exist.
