Leon Trotsky (OTL 1879 - 1940) was an influential Soviet politician of Ukrainian-Jewish origin. In OTL, he was defeated by Joseph Stalin in a power struggle after Lenin's death in 1924. Because of this, a commonly discussed POD is him winning the power struggle and assuming leadership of the USSR. A cliche of what could characterize his leadership is an increase in international revolutionary activity, due to his OTL policy of “Permanent Revolution”. A commonly predicted outcome of this is an alternate World War II where Communism faces off with the West.
