This NATO was founded to deter the Soviet Union. At the beginning it was made of the same states as OTL; after waiting a few months, the Eastern European states including the Baltic states (despite Soviet protests) joined too. Greece and Turkey joined in 1952, and in 1955 even South Germany was allowed.
