 **Franklin D. Roosevelt** (1882-1945) served as the 32d President of the United States, and is the only President to serve more than two terms. Roosevelt is often considered the best President of the twentieth century, edging out his cousin Theodore. In the twelve years of his Presidency, Roosevelt greatly expanded the powers of the Federal Government, and provided the leadership needed during the Great Depression and World War II. Roosevelt's New Deal program and Social Security reformations remains the corner stones of American Liberalism.
