A spinoff of Protect and Survive set in China. Explores memoir-style narratives as well as on-the-scene stories describing the affairs of various post-exchange Chinese states. Features a surviving Hong Kong, KMT on both sides of the Strait, a western Chinese Directorate whose leader fancies himself a latter-day First Emperor, and a persistent “collective” nuzzled between death and radioactivity at the edge of Mongolia.

The story grew out of a short story, the Mountain Temple, written by General_Paul.
