The Long Dark Eggnog Time of the Soul
A short story Doctor What wrote while suffering from writer's block on Extinction Event in December 2007.
The story involves Santa Claus as an semi-alcoholic and down on his luck private detective trying to solve the murder of Jack Frost. Along the way Santa Claus has numerous misadventures with nearly every other Christmas character, including Frosty the Snowman, the Grinch, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
The story is an exercise in a writing style best described as Noir Grimm. It is either a loving homage to every Film Noir movie ever made or a blatant and shameless rip-off of those films – Doc isn't telling which.
