A character of sorts in the AH.com The Series. The Giant Mosquito was created in a teleporter accident by G.Bone, massively enlarging a normal mosquito and imbuing it with intelligence.

Interestingly (though coincidentally), this incident in a Thande-written episode exactly parallels a scene in an earlier episode written by another writer, in which G.Bone had accidentally enlarged a fly instead. There was also a scene in a third episode where G.Bone enlarges a parakeet, turning it into a ten-foot tall monster. The Mosquito is just the first of these to appear beyond a single sight gag.

G.Bone was initially wary of the giant Mosquito, but when it emerged that he was in fact male, and thus fed on nectar rather than blood, he eventually became an odd sort of crew mascot, alongside his eventual friend Bobo. The Mosquito has got into trouble for eating Straha's hemp plants, and thereafter floating dreamily around the ship without using his wings.

The character got a widely positive reception when he debuted, not least because of the above amusing image, and became a permanent member of the crew rather than simply a one-off joke. Various names were suggested, including 'Atvar' as he was the nemesis of Straha, but in the end he remains credited simply as 'The Mosquito'.

It later emerged that not only did he not drink blood, but he was actually scared of it.
