 Interestingly (though coincidentally), this incident in a [[offtopic:Thande]]-written episode exactly parallels a scene in an earlier episode written by another writer, in which G.Bone had accidentally enlarged a fly instead. There was also a scene in a third episode where G.Bone enlarges a parakeet, turning it into a ten-foot tall monster. The Mosquito is just the first of these to appear beyond a single sight gag.

 The character got a widely positive reception when he debuted, not least because of the above amusing image, and became a permanent member of the crew rather than simply a one-off joke. Various names were suggested, including 'Atvar' as he was the nemesis of Straha, but in the end he remains credited simply as 'The Mosquito'.
