Thick as Thieves RP - Equipment : Mounts and Vehicles
Going on foot is the most basic form of transport, and is available at all times. In addition to it, player characters (and NPCs) can also keep or operate various kinds of mounts and vehicles. Some of the vehicles depend on human or animal power to work, but many are powered by steam engines, petrol engines and even electric engines (depending on the exact type and model of vehicle and its manufacturer). While all mounts can be owned by freelancers and guildsmen alike, only certain types of vehicles are available for permanent ownership by the player characters. Most water-based, nearly all rail-based and all aerial vehicles are off limits to ownership (mostly due to complexity and due to being part of the city state's mass transit system).
Mounts
Mounts are domesticated animals, usually mammalian quadrupeds, that offer a fairly cheap and affordable method of transport, particularly for short and medium distances. The downside of mounts is that they all require daily good care from their owners and even the most swift-legged of them cannot travel for overly long distances during a single day.
Mounts are also required as a source of propulsion for certain simpler types of vehicles, those which lack their own autonomous engines.
