The World of Mañana : Submission Guidelines for the World of Mañana

Under Construction - Subject to Change

So, you too want to join in the bold march into the glorious World of Mañana (when you get around to it). Great! By all means, join in, for this world was expressly made to be a collaborative, shared world designed for the mutual fostering of creativity and fun. Just play by the rules.

Please read the following rules and copywrite information before submitting:

The Rules

We're pretty lax and open here in Mañana. No ropes on this beach and drinks are free. But we do demand an atmosphere of respect and courtesy; no solicitations or panhandling, and respect the privacy, courtesy, and rights of others. If you need to make a scene, be sure to clue us in on it 'cause we might want to join in!

In more direct language this means a Creative Commons CC-BY-NC-SA liscense (see below), no charges or fees (but no charges or fees on your part either, see CC), no using this space for advertizing, spam, or political/religious solicitations, respect the rights and privacy of contributors, no flame wars or edit wars, and remember that this site is a place of fun and sharing, so please don't be a troll or buzzkill.

Also there is no place for HATE here: no racist, sexist, homophobic, antisemetic, anti-muslim (etc.) tracts nor anything that glorifies or advances agendas of hate, segregation, or genocide. Note that we understand and allow the in character portrayal of rascism/hate/etc. when such is an integral part of the story or an integral part of the character's human frailties, so a rascist character using a slur is acceptable so long as it is not obviously meant to glorify or justify that character's ignorant attitude. Intollerance will not be tollerated here :-P .

Adult themes (sex, drugs, violence) are permitted, though please do the potential reader/viewer the courtesy of marking the links to you contribution as appropriate with disclaimers such as “Warning: Adult Content”, “NSFW”, “Graphic Violence”, etc. For a short hand you could just use the US movie designations (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17) or another universal-enough cue that your story ain't exactly fit for Romper Room.

The Creative Commons Copywrite

Be advised, in keeping with the Creative Commons copywrite of the host site, the Alternate history wiki, all works posted here are liscensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share alike 3.0 liscense. This means you are free with the work posted here (and conversely others are free with your contributions) to:

  • Share — to copy, distribute and transmit the work
  • Remix — to adapt the work

But only under the following conditions:

  • Attribution — You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work)
  • Noncommercial — You may not use this work for commercial purposes [in other words, nobody but you can make any money off of your work - GK]
  • Share Alike — If you alter, transform, or build upon this work, you may distribute the resulting work only under the same or similar license to this one

With the Understanding that:

  • Waiver — Any of the above conditions can be waived if you get permission from the copyright holder [which for this site/wiki means the original creator of the work and possibly the wiki copywrite holder him/herself - GK]
  • Public Domain — Where the work or any of its elements is in the public domain under applicable law, that status is in no way affected by the license [in other words what was PD stays PD - GK]
  • Other Rights — In no way are any of the following rights affected by the license:
    • Your fair dealing or fair use rights, or other applicable copyright exceptions and limitations;
    • The author's moral rights;
    • Rights other persons may have either in the work itself or in how the work is used, such as publicity or privacy rights

CC-BY-NC-SA

Feel free to include the CC image with your work by using the following code:

[[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/|CC-BY-NC-SA]]

Submission

Now that that's out of the way, here's how you actually get your work up here. First, while there's nothing actually stopping you from just linking/posting, we do ask that you run your work by one of us “Mañaderators” first for editing, quality/continuity assurance, and beneficial suggestions. We promise to be nice (and constructive). Note we reserve the right to reject, edit, or delete any contributions that fail to play by The Rules, respect the (very generous) Copywrite, that blatantly contradict established canon or continuity, or that are so poorly edited/spelled that it'd be an act of mercy to save the contributor from his/her own embarassment. Anything so removed, unless truly abhorrent shit like racism, will be replaced by a link to contact a Mañaderator to find out how you can improve your contribution.

By Submitting your work you tacitly acknowledge your willing adherence to The Rules and The Creative Commons Copywrite and the rules of this wiki

Contacting a Mañaderator

There is currently one main Mañaderator: Geekhis Khan. The Great Khan can be reached currently via Private message (PM) on the www.alternatehistory.com message board by that name. I know, a bit of a pain in the ass for non members…he'll find other contact methods later.
