A roleplaying game started by Turquoise Blue in the Sandbox section of the Shared Worlds forum. Turquoise Blue, the OP, is supreme moderator of the game, but due to timezone discrepancies usually let's things run as they will, causing the other players of the game to organize their own subplots to keep things alive, as Ariosto and Evilprodigy have done.

Of Aliens and Spaceships is a universe many thousands of years in the future, as man has progressed to the transhuman stage of evolution. Two large entities dominate the politics of this universe: The Federation, and the Imperium. Not much information has yet been divulged on these two governments, but it has been established that the Federation has the better ground troops while the Imperium is much more skilled in space battles. The Federation and the Imperium, back when the universe was still not quite spread out, were close allies, but both had goals for expansion, which made them great enemies of each other, and now they are very antagonistic of each other. There is a break off of the Federation called the Confederation, which uses highly questionable methods, and that, combined with it's isolation from most of entities, causes it to remain un-allied. Only one ally of the Federation has been mentioned so far, that ally being the Rhomani Empire, a small group of ten or so planets. The Imperium is primarily allied with the Frankish Empire, which while larger than the Rhomani Empire still cannot compare to giants like the Imperium and the Federation. There is also a group of pirates, known by many names (G'Rablies in Frankish, Komodo in Anglish), which moves about the universe like a plague, hated by all. Last, but most certainly not least, is the Ly'zzer Hive; the Ly'zzer Hive is larger than the Imperium and the Federation combined, but stays out of the politics of the universe. Some say the only way to get to Imperium and the Federation to work together is if the Ly'zzer invaded.

Baseline Humans - No explanation required

Kerelians - Feline-like creatures, with minor telepathic abilities

Ptarians - The result of a long line of experimentation, beginning with a group of humans, they have been altered to the point that they are considered a separate race

Sibevik - Another offshoot of humanity, they have developed helium sacks for flying and retractable claws

Rhomani - The third offshoot of humanity, they have telepathic abilities, and are naturally more aggressive than humans

Wespolikian - A shapeshifter species

G'Rablies - A bird-like species

Ly'zzer - An insectoid-like species

Anglish: English but more Germanic.

Kerelian: The language of the Kerelians.

The Universal Standard Language: Welsh-descented but Romance-based.

Galliefruan: The tongue of the Time Lords.

Ptarian: A mish-mash of Human languages, but with mostly Germanic and Uralic basis

Padak: Rather complex and complicated language from the Andromeda Galaxy.

New Martian: A more understandable martian language easier to speak. The old Martian language was more like random moans and groans and strange noises that sounded like nothing to the untamed ear (think Wookie). New Martian is just Anglicized.
