The New Shared Worlds Empire was founded on August 26, 2011, when Marix, then First Consul of the Sandbox Republic, declared himself Shared Worlds Emperor.

On September 1, 2011, in response to Marix's absence from AH.COM, HellHound01 proposed the elevation of a Regent to exercise the Emperor's power until his return. Odysseus was within the hour confirmed in the position.

On September 4, 2011, the town of Filettino attempted to secede from the Empire. Within 24 hours, it was completely obliterated. Turquoise Blue attempted to take advantage of the war to regain favor with the government, but failed.

On September 15, 2011, following more than a week of inactivity by the imperium, Imperial Minister of Intelligence & Espionage mrsandman declared the restoration of the republic, promising amnesty to all former Sandboxian leaders. However, Shared Worlds remained lawless until the establishment of the Kingdom of the Shared Worlds three months later.
