Brynhildr, better known as Mjölna, daughter of Njör∂r and Ingibjorg and hailing from the North, is the self-described “Ponyville blacksmith, drunkard, tavern-trasher, and hammer lass.” She is a large and muscular earth pony mare in her early-mid twenties, having a light brown coat, a brownish-blond mane and tail, golden eyes, and a crossed hammer and thunderbolt cutie mark. Loud, tireless, crude, and recklessly enthusiastic, Mjölna is fond of hammers, boozing, fighting, satisfying her strong libido, and hammers. Although generally well-meaning, she is undisciplined and impulsive, which is often a serious liability. Mjölna answered Princess Luna's summons not out of duty to her adoptive homeland but to merely have a fun adventure. Nevertheless, she is loyal to her oath of service and friends in the party.
Within the party, Mjölna is the go-to pony for any physically demanding task like chopping down trees or digging ditches, and as a talented blacksmith, she has made equipment like machetes and knives for other party members. Mjölna is also one of the party's primary fighters, augmenting her amateurish combat skill with impressive strength, hardiness, and a dangerous tendency to fly into a berserk rage. She is on good or neutral terms with everyone in the party except Steadfast (or “Creeper”), whose personality she despises. Blue Flame, however, who Mjölna likes and trusts, is a somewhat moderating influence on her wilder leanings.
The character concept for Mjölna was inspired by a background pony seen in Se2Ep15 The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000.
