Session 1

Lukas Merhoff introduces himself

Well ladies and gentlemen, I was born in the 1550s, what rockin' decade.

I should introduce myself. I was born as Lukas Merhoff in Dresden, Saxony, in the Holy Roman Empire in 1552. Now it is called Germany. I have not been there since 1949.

My father was a carpenter, a strong Catholic. I became a Lutheran at young age. I wanted to be a theologian, and I went to Luther's old home is Eisleben often. My father wanted me to be a carpenter. After an enormous argument with my father when I was seventeen, I was sent hurling across Europe, west from Saxony, until I stumbled across the city of Strassburg, a medium sized town, where I worked odd jobs, until I was taken on as a blacksmith's apprentice. I learned smithing, a valuble tool in those days. I acquired my skills and moved to the city of Bordeaux, and settled down with a family, a beautiful wife and two beautiful kids. I noticed things, as my wife got older, I didn't. So with enormous sorrow and doubt, I got on a ship and headed to Quebec.

I settled down with a new I identity, Jean Luc de Mer, in Quebec City, and became a blacksmith. I married again, and had 3 kids.

Session 2

The possible grandfather of Heinrich Merhoff ? (16th century)

Lukas Merhoff: Does anybody have any descendents that lived in East-central Germany in the 1500s ? Because my maternal Grandfather ran away from Dresden for some reason, because he couldn't age, as I later found out. My mother only survived because my father took her in (not that he didn't want to, she was a curvy twenty-something blonde with sharp green eyes) and they got married, and hence, I was born.

The Egyptian (suddenly answering Lukas): Yes. My son, Heinrich. Now that you mention it, I did get a letter from him (I was living in Berlin) describing his new wife. He did mention the blonde hair and green eyes…

Lukas: My father was named Heinrich Merhoff… Did he ever mention his son Lukas ?

The Egyptian: Lukas… Let me think… Once or twice, we wasn't communicating much by that time…

Lukas: Amazing… Grandfather ?

Session 3

Lukas the 17th century settler and trapper

I lived in Quebec for a few years, 12 to be precise. As I grew older, I had 2 kids. Two beautiful girls Marie and Heidi, after my first wife and my mother. My wife, a beautiful curvy Parisian with raven black hair was named Monique. I was happy, a well-to-do blacksmith with good connections to the fur trading industry. I did some fur trading on the side, and one day went one a trading expidition far down the Mississippi River, as we know it now. I got horribly lost. I sailed about and about, for 15 years. In warmer climes, I saved a young Arawak girl, Setting Sun, from a pack of cannibals. It was a classic “Knight and Shining Armour” story. We traveled together and in 1639, she bore my 5th child. I knew I would never see my family in Quebec again, so I changed my name to Johnathan Luke, my wife to Sunset Luke, and we settled in British Virginia in 1640 and lived in a nice estate and farm. We had a few more children, and I went back to Quebec in 1656 when I encounted my grandson, which was awkward, to say the least.

I lived next to a man named John Washington. He had a beautiful wife, Anne Pope, and when Sunset died in 1659, she came over to cook me a dinner for a night, out of pity. Ended up with her in my bed. We kept it secret, but we knew when a baby, Lawrence was born, it was mine. My dark eyes were there. Lawrence Washington is the grandfather of George Washington.

Session 4

Session 5

Lukas Merhoff and the Seven Years War

I've fought in several wars. The first one, the Seven Years War, I fought for the British in North America. I always called it the “French and Indian War.” I fought with a young man named George Washington. We were best friends, but never heard from him again. I dug through a book during the 1800s and found his name it. I couldn't believe that George would found the most powerful nation on earth.

Session 6

Lukas Merhoff and the 19th century US

I've always kind of avoided the USA, but did move to Pennsylvania in 1853. Only President I ever voted for was Lincoln. And Fremont, but he never became President.

Session 7

Lukas the would-be assasin

I once tried to assassinate Upton Sinclair.

Session 8

Thomas Miller, London banker (early 20th century)

The Egyptian (responding to the claim about the assasination attempt): Oh yes. That was you ? Really ? By the way, I feel we met a while ago, around 1900…|

Lukas: I was going by Thomas Miller, had a job at a bank in central London, just married. Who were you ?

The Egyptian: Desmond Field, lived in London, I was an accountant, and had been for ten years.

Lukas: Desmond ? Is that really you ? Long time, no see old chap ! Where are you now ?

The Egyptian: Well, I'm named Parley Miles now. I live in Toronto, Canada.

Lukas: Never knew I ever met another immortal.

The Egyptian: We should get together soon and ramble about the old days !

Session 9

Lukas Merhoff and WWI

The Egyptian (about WWI): Fought for the French in that war. Died in the Somme, and again at Passchendaele. By the end of it all, I felt empty, heartless, disillusioned.

Lukas: Fought for the Austrians in Serbia for that war. Later fought in Galicia. Ended up a drifter in Vienna. I didn't find a new family until 1950 because of that war.
