Wiki Task Force Bill

Overview

The last piece of legislation discussed during the 2007 Parliament concerned the creation of a “Wiki Task Force” – a special team with the goal of cleaning up and organizing the AH.com wiki. The proposal was born out of a desire to recognize Pkmatrix for his work researching and cataloging Parliament's legislative history. If passed, it would have been the first organization with the sole duty of maintaining the Wiki.

History

On May 22, 2008, Thande, chairman of the Yorkshire Socialist Party, motioned for Pkmatrix to be appointed Speaker of the House: “As Pkmatrix has done such stirling work in sorting out all the Bills we haven't voted on, and I think he has neutral affiliation, let us appoint him as Speaker of the Parliament. He can then make the polls for the MPs to vote on the Bills (public access, so we can see who has voted and only MPs have) Or we could do it by PM if we need it to be secret.”

Vice President Sargon (E) agreed that Pkmatrix should be recognized in some way, although he noted that since Pkmatrix was a YSP supporter it might be more appropriate to appoint him to a special cabinet position, such as Minister of Legislative Wikiness. He went on to propose that a Wiki Task Force be established, to be led by Pkmatrix:

“A Wiki Task Force to be set up. This has been proposed by myself in the wiki discussion forum before since what seemed a big task was mentioned there. This Task Force would NOT censor the wiki…it would mainly deal with big projects such as the proposed one to collate all TLs on the site into a categorised list on the wiki with links and brief descriptions, correcting typos and formatting errors, repairing damage done by trolls and vandalism, general reorganisation of certain sections of the wiki to make it look more tidy, and the adoption of a common formatting standard across articles perhaps amongst other things

Obviously such a Task Force would benefit from someone to lead it who knows the wiki well. I think Pkmatrix would be ideal for that and it would acknowledge recognition of his hard work.”
