The idea of a subforum for the Parliament of AH.com is an old idea that was suggested in 2006, but never acted upon. The 2008 Parliament revisited the concept.
On August 4, 2008, Kidblast (YSP) proposed petitioning Ian for a separate sub-forum. The proposal was supported by TheDarkServant (E), VulcanTrekkie45 (YSP), and Pkmatrix (YSP). TheDarkServant (E) suggested that the sub-forum be placed in Off Topic and that only MPs be allowed to post, but President Sargon cautioned against limiting posting rights: “Ian would see this as cliquish, and he's well known for not liking that sort of thing.”
On February 26, 2009, Pkmatrix (YSP) informed the Lower House of Parliament that this bill was one of three remaining on the docket, but that it had been declared “Stalled”. Deputy Prime Minister LordInsane (E) voiced opposition to the bill, reasoning that “it goes uncomfortably close to certain things we were warned about, and we should leave that behind us.”
In an address to Parliament, 09camaro (E) said: “The idea of a second sub-forum is indeed a good idea. however, the ability of limiting posting rights to those who are not MP's is an awful idea. Many legislative branches throughout the world have an OPEN floor so that those who have concerns about certain issues can bring them to the attention of their respective governments legislative branch. The fact that this thread in and of itself limits the rights of those to post is cliquish to my person. I will place forth a conjecture so that this bill may be revised so that a “AH.com Politics” sub-forum be created to streamline the search for many committees and ideas that relate to this topic. This conjecture would also remove any clause of mention that states that only an MP would be allowed to post. As every year, in my relative (in)experience, the Parliament is replaced. Limiting posts to MP's places a large workload on IAN and many more personnel who would be considered a moderator for this forum. Removing the limitations would allow for other persons on the site to voice their respective opinions to parliament. and those who wish to get into the AH.com Political scene may have their start.”
Parliament shall petition His Administratorness Ian for a separate sub-forum for the Government of the Imperial Republic of AH.com.
Voting on this bill began on February 26, 2009 and ended on March 5, 2009.
None voted AYE.
09camaro (E) voted to ABSTAIN.
With no votes in favor, 7 NAYs, 1 ABSTAINING and 7 MPs not voting, this bill failed to meet the criteria for passage outlined in the Legislative Procedures Act and, thus, Failed to Pass.
