Norfolk

Pronounced Norrfuk, a county of England forming the north of East Anglia. The name comes from the “Northern Folk” of the East Angles. A very rural and isolated place known for the Norfolk Broads, a series of rivers and canals crisscrossing the county, so that is is popularly known as “Virtually an island”. The stereotype of its people is as backwards farming types who don't know what credit cards are; the greatest counter-example is Stephen Fry.

Its county town is Norwich (pronounced Norritch, or locally Naaridge).

Confusingly, also a name given to : - a city in Virginia that's now a major American Navy base - Norfolk Island, an overseas territory of Australia
