Dueling Committee Bill

Overview

This was the third bill proposed during the 2008 Parliament.

History

On August 4, 2008, TheDarkServant (E) proposed creating a “Committee for the Implementation of Dueling” and stressed his own interest in serving on such a committee. Shortly afterward, the bill stalled.

On February 26, 2009, Pkmatrix (YSP) informed the Lower House of Parliament that this bill had been listed as “Stalled”. Later that day, Deputy Prime Minister LordInsane (E) opened voting on this bill in an effort to clear the chamber's docket, saying: “The main problem I can see is that TheDarkServant, the obvious driving force behind such a committee, would be distracted by his duties as Prime Minister.”

09camaro (E), in an address to Parliament, said: “Esteemed colleagues. I am unaware of the implementations on such a bill … There is no formal right-up in the wiki about what such a bill is proposing, and what it would entail. Whether this is, in reality, just an idea that was tossed onto the table to have the flesh placed onto such an idea, is beyond me. I had left my post during this time as some of you might remember. So with that being said, I would like to make a conjecture. send the bill to a committee so that such a bill could be discussed and that this bill proposal might gain some ground to appease the members here today.”

Proposed Text of Legislation

Parliament shall establish a Committee for the Implementation of Dueling.

Result

Voting on this bill began on February 26, 2009 and ended on March 5, 2009.

Susano (FFF), Prime Minister TheDarkServant (E), and VulcanTrekkie45 (YSP) voted AYE.

Deputy Prime Minister LordInsane (E), Keenir (E), Ran Exilis (E), Haggis (E), Gladi (E), Demosthenes (E), Opposition Leader Kidblast (YSP), and Nekromans (YSP) did not vote.

With only 3 AYES, 4 NAYS, and 8 MPs not voting, this bill failed to meet the criteria for passage outlined in the Legislative Procedures Act and, thus, Failed to Pass.
