This shorter article serves as an ever-changing repository of unused ideas for WFC contest rounds.

Winners of individual rounds should find this article useful if they're struggling to come up with a new idea for a new round of the contest.

• New flags for extremely well-known scifi nations
• Create flags for established fairytale/fantasy kingdoms if they existed in our modern world (needs check)
• A more reasonable flag for one of the established comic-book nations (needs check)
• A flag used by fans of a sports team in a fictional or alt-historical country
• A flag for a guerrilla movement that adheres to a fictional, alt-historical, or dead ideology
• A personal standard for a head-of-state possessing an obsolete or unusual title - a modern archon, First Consul, high king, Big Brother, etc. - of any country
• A new or alternate flag for any place that is currently uninhabited, whether it has a flag in OTL or not
• A United Republic of Germany before 1980.
• Create a flag for an independent nation of Alsace-Lorraine
• Flag of Burgundy (there have been already a Burgundian Republic round and Burgundian Roman Empire round)
• Flag of a Brazil being colonized by Dutch
• If you look at world and the current astronomical amount of resources it would take to make permanent homes elsewhere in the Solar System, chances are you'll realize that space colonization will likely begin with corporations attempting to get at mineral rich asteroids. The challenge would be to design the flags of the colonial companies that are set up to do so, as well as a brief blurb describing the company (ie. country/countries of origin, if they have sponsorship of a government, etc.).

• Flag of a North American Union that also has UK and Ireland as equaly important areas.

• Design a flag for one of the fictional countries in Yes, Minister
• Design a flag for one of the fictional countries in The West Wing
• Babar's Kingdom Celesteville has undergone revolution - design a successor state's flag
• UK scraps the Union Flag
• British Federation Flag (with no Union Jack on it?)
• Political Parties of Alternate Countries
• The Literal Micronations: design a flag for the Little Folk (Smurfs, Gnomes, Hobbits, whatever) of a country
• Choose any national-flag that you dislike and design a better one. / Pick a boring OTL national flag and revamp it.
• Improve a Soviet-Socialistrepublic flag.
• Improve a United-States of America State flag.
• A colony on The Moon.
• A colony on Mars.
• A future China.
• A united Korea.
• A non-boring flag of Libya.
• A communist Chinese flag that actually looks Chinese.
• The 'Pacific Union'.
• The Technocratic Union: create a flag for a nation that sucessfully becomes a Technocracy and a Major Power - it can be in any nation and with any definition of “technocracy”.
• Alternate national animal: change the national animal of a country and make a flag of such nation with the alternate animal on it - for example, a Germany with a Bear rather than an Eagle, or a Scotland with a Wyvern rather than a Lion.
• A flag for a country in the future where Bahá'í Faith is predominant (or in an FTL world where it spread way more than OTL)
• Flag of Liberia! Not our Liberia, This timeline's Liberia is a very, very, very losse confederation of islands in the South Pacific near NZ run by pirates.
• Design a flag by twice clicking “random article” in the Navigation Box on Wikipedia and then combining the elements (colors & symbols) of the two most closely related (local, regional, subnational or national) flags.
• Modern European nations in a world without the Black Death (ASB, but with The Years of Rice and Salt we had a glimpse of a Europe that was depopulated. Here it would be an unaffected Europe)
• Conversely, have an area such as India, greatly depopulated by disease before the 1800s and the flags of nations that have developed from this event.
• North Africa remains christian, forcing the Muslim expansion along the east coast of Africa down to the area of OTL Port Elizabeth SA (This includes Madagascar)
• Flags based on one of the “Map of the Fortnight” challenges. (Could be interesting on other people's takes on some of these nations, as regards flags anyways.)
• A flag for a nation that Spartacus had set up when he got to Sicily because in this timeline he wasn't doubled crossed.
• A flag for an modern day interdependent Theodoro.
• Flags for modern day independent Tartar states.
• Flag for a Mali colony in the New World that was set up by Mansa Qu, (if you want more information on that here's the link to the wiki page.
• Flag for a medieval Zoroastrian Indian state.
