Metalurgia Casal

Metalurgia Casal manufacturing company, based in Aveiro, Portuguese Federation. Founded in 1954, Metalurgia Casal is the 2nd largest Motorcycle and Moped manufacturing company in the Federation and Commonwealth.

Metalurgia Casal produces 20 different model of Motorcycles and Moped. About 50% of the Motorcycles are exported but 80% of the Moped are exported to both Commonwealth and other countries principally in Latin America and Asia.

**History**

Metalurgia Casals was founded in 1954 in Aveiro, by João Casal.

In the 1950s the company started manufacturing Mopeds and by 1960 was manufacturing over 20 model with automatic engines, 2 speed, 4 speed, 5 speed and 6 speed engines.

In the 1960s and the economy grew and the demand for Mopeds decreased it started developing its own Motorcycles with engines upto 300CC. It also started sponsoring several racing teams in both off road and motorcycle racing. The most famous of the teams the GALP racing team using Casal Racing motorcycle and won 4 championships during the 1960s.

During the 1970s and 1980s it expanded the Motorcycle models and Casal was on forefront on design and development as competition with both American and Japanese Motorcycle companies intensified. In 1980 it introduced its most successful RZ Model. Available in 4 different iterations from 150CC to 300CC it set the standard for both sport enthusiasts and those who wanted to ride a fun motorcyle.

Today Metalurgia Casals products are found all over the world and is ranked as one of the top 5 Motorcycle manufacturers in the world.
