The Beatles

The Beatles, consisting of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr (with former members being Pete Best and Stu Sutcliffe), were a Rock group which existed from 1960 to 1970. Achieving fame in the United States around 1964, they began the second era of Rock music after the lull of the late 50s to early 60s, bringing British groups to popularity in the United States and around the world with the “British Invasion” they headed and inspiring local American groups and helping to bring them to popularity. During their tenure, they were perhaps the most popular and influential musical act in the world, and their influence in music up to today cannot be overstated.

Due to their prominence, influence and importance in music, they have been featured in a number of alternate history discussions and timelines.
