An old timeline, created by [[offtopic:Faeelin]] way back in the days of the [[offtopic:Old Board]]. It is a [[dark ages and medieval|medieval]]/[[early modern]] timeline centered around [[Italy|Venice]] and the [[alternate history:Byzantine Empire]].

Originally, it emerged from a TL called "Mustafa the Pretender, The Ottomans stillborn, and italia: the last gasp of byzantium"

It won the **"[[https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/attachments/2341/|Best 1400-1700 Timeline]]"** category at the [[alternate history:2005 winners|2005]] [[alternate history:Turtledove Awards]]. It was one of only two [[Old Board]] era timelines to ever win a Turtledove (both of these timelines occured in the award's first year).
