The leader of Congress and one of the highest ranked officials in the [[Sandbox Republic]]'s government.

The Chancellor fills the dual roles that, in other systems, might be filled by a Vice President and a Prime Minister:  he or she can still introduce legislation, but is unable to vote for or against any legislation unless the voting window closes and there is a tie. However, the Chancellor is still able to debate any bill while still in congress.  In the event the [[sbr_president|First Consul]] is unable to fill his or her duties, the Chancellor will become Acting Head of State.  Unlike either a Prime Minister or a Vice President, however, the Chancellor is not directly elected.  Instead, the First Consul nominates the candidate (if he or she is a member of Congress, then they will have to resign that seat) who is then approved through a Congressional vote.
