====== New York State ======

New York State is the third most populous state in the Union, and probably best known as the home of the largest city in the United States, [[offtopic:New York City]]. Albany is the state capital, despite being only the 6th largest city in New York state; it is, however, the oldest, founded by the Dutch in 1624 as Ft. Orange. 
The states motto is Excelsior, well known catchphrase of Stan Lee, as well as a Spaceship in the Star Trek movie franchise.  

Formerly known as Nieuw Nederland.

Upstate New York is <del>unknown to the outside world and is apparently still occupied by the Iroquois Confederacy or something...</del> a home to a good number of members, and is neither Wyoming, which does not exist, or Schenectady which is New York's awful Coventry-like wasteland.
