====== West Virginia ======

A state carved out of [[offtopic: Virginia]] in the height of the [[alternate history:American Civil War]], as its people rejected the CSA and declared independence from Virginia. West Virginia is pretty much all mountains.  Oddly enough, for all the loyalty shown during that spasm of internal dissent, West Virginia has become more "southern" than [[offtopic:Virginia]], complete with people in the bush, and other things. West Virginia, with its Appalachian hillbillies, supposedly preserves a Shakespearean form of English in its more isolated regions. It's also the site of the town of Grantville (based on real-life Mannington) that was ISOTed to seventeenth-century [[Germany]] in Eric Flint's //**[[alternate history:163x|1632]]**// series.
