====== Nevada ======

Home of Las Vegas, Reno, and desert, Nevada has become more of a gambling mecca than anything else. Before that was silver mines. Before that was ... sand. Then there was (the show) CSI.

Nevada was granted statehood during the [[alternate history:American Civil War]], hence the state motto, "Battle Born". 

There is a running gag in [[offtopic:Hawaii]] that Las Vegas should be considered the "eighth island" because there are so many Hawaiians there.
