29: Asteroid of unknown origin across the galaxy comes very near to hitting earth. In the upper atmosphere it sheds sections which crash to the earth and house a hither-to unknown bacteria. Some tests are conducted and it appears the the human race is onto a way to regrow tissue. More tests show that the tissue is not regrown, but reanimated. Test subjects begin to show odd symptons, primarily neurolgical at first, but slowly spreads to the rest of the body and some die. An almost rigor-mortis paralysis sets in on the patients who live and they enter coma. Within hours their vital signs indicate they are dead. And then they 'wake up' and begin to feed. Something about the existing bacteria in the patients' bodies triggers reactions in their victims and the plague spreads...
