Went to Chapters today and looked at Michael Chabon's book "The Yiddish Policemen's Union".
For those that don't know it postulates a Jewish settlement pre WWII in the area of Sitka, AK.
What if a settlement agreement had been reached and the Jewish population of Europe that could escape were taken someplace closer, someplace like the then British colony of Newfoundland?
What impact would this have on the colony? Would Newfoundland's entrance into Canada be delayed by this or maybe even stopped?
I was told this was considered at the time by my High School history teacher but I never asked for the source.
Makes for an interesting line of thought.
