Zinoveiev: Leader of the Soviet Union

Say Stalin dies of appendicitis in 1920 (as in OTL he nearly did).

It seems likely with Stalin absent, that Grigory Zinoviev would have risen as the leading figure among the Bolsheviks (to those of you who constantly support Trotsky, he was very unpopular within the party and had practically no power base).

So...what do you think a Soviet Union under Zinoviev would have been like?

Less a Cult of Personality, if I recall correctly. May have worked more than Stalin did on exporting the Revolution given his previous role in the Comintern, though probably without much success.

What about Kamenev?
I thought Zinoviev and Kamenev were a political double act with very similar views etc.

True, but Zinoviev was definetly the more dominant member of the partnership. Kamenev would hold a lot of influence than OTL no doubt but I think Zinoviev would definetly be the top dog without Stalin around.
