Okay, so all know that Yugoslavia collapsed and there is very little possibility of the country coming back together. We also know the reason for that collapse was due in large part to the pursuit of ideologies promising Greater Serbia, Greater Croatia, Greater Albania etc. etc.

In this thread I want people to present their cases as to which Greater Country Ideology had the most likely chance of succeeding, and how in fact it could have been achieved. As candidates we have

Greater Serbia
Greater Croatia
Greater Albania
Greater Hungary
Greater Bulgaria

Less likely, but also possible

Greater Bosnia
Greater Montenegro
Greater Slovenia?
Greater Macedonia

I will put my case for a couple of them.

1. Greater Serbia

For me, Greater Serbia seems to me the most difficult to create, partly because of the geographic distrubtion of where Serbs live, intermixed in Bosnia among Muslims and Croats, as well as in Croatia with just Croats. The best case scenario that could have possibly created a Greater Serbia was if Milosevic refused to withdraw the Yugoslav Army from the Serbian majority areas in Croatia following the recognition of Croatia by the international community in January 1992. The war then would have undoubtedly continued in Croatia and been much more bloody, but this I believe was the only way Serbia could have achieved its maximum goal of annexing the Serbian Krajina, keeping within the state Bosnia.

2. Greater Croatia

For a Greater Croatia, there are two possibilities. The Maximist goal in which all of Bosnia is included, or a minimalist goal in which Bosnia is divided between Serbia and Croatia. The most realistic goal in my opinion to achieve a Greater Croatia would have been if the Washington AGreement between Croats and Bosniaks had not been signed in MArch 1994 and instead Tudjman and Milosevic worked to divide teh whole of Bosnia between Croatia nad Serbia.

The other possibility would be if the Bosniaks and Croats had succeeded in capturing Banja Luka in 1995 and defeated the Republika Srpska. The problem for Croats would then be on creating a confederation between Croatia and Bosnia following the war.

3. Greater Albania

To me a Greater Albania is probably the most realistic of the three to actually be formed in the near future. It's entirely possible that Serbia will in exchange for granting Kosovo recognition insist on gaining the Serbian majority North. In this case the rest of Kosovo may then vote in a future referendum to be joined with Albania.
