yet another my civil war story question

A possibility, maybe, could be with the implementation of the American system under the control of the Whigs in the 1840s.

Another, maybe, with the Whigs in the 1850s after the Mexican-American war. Perhaps a successful Taylor administration.

thanks ill start looking into that period and figure out how to edit an event in order to industrialize the south but not change enough to keep it somewhat close to OTL until the war

Since the South had little natural resources (ok Virginia had coal, but this woas not exploited until 1870'ish), their only option for industrialisation would be firstly through the cotton mills (like Manchester in the UK), and then secondly by importing iron from elsewhere - this would probably be the North which would make them economically reliant on the North.

If the South was sincerely interested in that there would be no Civil War as the expansion of slavery into the territories annexed from Mexico would have been a dead letter.

Japan has little natural resources, the South has natural resources but never exploited them. Two different things.
