Yale Pres. Sarah Palin

How dpo you become president of Yale anyway? If it's anything like at our universities, it's very much a political appointment. That would only make sense if Yale decided it needed a much more 'nawmal' heartland facade. Do you need to be faculty to be eligible?

You would need to be a tenured faculty member somewhere (not necessarily Yale) with all the appropriate qualifications. It is also expected that you have some experience with academic administration, and in the case of the Harvard and Yale that you had previously received a degree (either undergrad or graduate) from the university; this is generally not true of other universities. One of the chief concerns when it comes to the presidency of the Ivy Leagues is that the candidate is an effective fundraiser.

So, with a POD of 1980, Ms. Palin would have to go to Yale University rather than one of the five universities she attended in OTL within the span of a single year. I'm not certain, though, that they would be able to meet her academic interests at that time.

Does your POD give her the presumably required boost in IQ?

Doesn't strike me as being smart enough for a prestigious University to choose her as a President, it's not like there was anything even remotely remarkable about her till she was chosen as McCain's running mate.

Well, I hope if she becomes prez of Yale she could convince New Haven to make more parking spaces available on campus :p Seems whenever I go there every spot is inevitably "reserved".

One of the potential pitfalls of a Yale or Harvard presidency is the political correctness that goes along with the job. Larry Summers took a big career hit for suggesting that men fare better in the sciences than women (though he's not faring all that badly now that he's in Obama's clique). Sarah Palin is politically Right with big flashing lights, so I think she would easily run afoul of conventional wisdom.
