Y2K bug is worse

What would have happened had the series of Y2K bugs not been detected in time? For the sake of argument, let's assume that code which was fixed IOTL later than June 1999 is not fixed in time. For a worse scenario, January 1 1999.

It would be difficult for it to be worse. Most computer based processes had no idea what year it was. I spent about 3 months going to offshore oil rigs, pumping stations, and other industrial facilities in and around the Gulf of Mexico at the end of 1999 performing audits of their programs. The computers and other controllers kept track of time intervals but not that there was a year associated to it.
