What if during the midst of the Three Kingdoms period the nomads from the north attack China proper? Would the Wei be sorely defeated or would Wei, Wu, and Shu-Han unify against the northern invaders?

Historically speaking the Xianbei were a powerful kingdom that exsisted in Mongolia and had previously defeated Han attempts at pacification. Policy of the Han was through appeasement of their northern neighbors through goods (and this probably how the Xianbei were kept out of the fighting in the conflict), but in 235 Cao Wel did assasinate Xianbei's ruler leading to the disintergration of the state. The Xiongyu, the first nomadic peoples that had threatened China had by this point moved westward, their southern branch in Shanxxi subordinate tot he Wei.
