Xerxes Pontoon Bridges work?

From what I was reading the ships were wrecked by a storm, impeding the Persians from marching into Greece. So what if no storm? Could the Persians under Xerxes conquer Greece?

Yes, the Hellespont bridge was how he crossed his gargantuan army into Europe. There were some issues constructing it, but they weren't as major as is made out by some histories - even the "whipping the water" thing was symbolic as much as anything.

I recommend Persian Fire as a good synthesis source on the campaign, by the way. It makes clear just how huge the logistical achievement was of moving such a massive army.
