I just thought of something that might interest those that want to do something with a Nazi US cold war: a third world war occurring in that time.

Now obviously it would be closer to Calbear's excellent Anglo-American Nazi War than any other WWIII TL, be they conventional, nuclear, or in between. I mean the Reich's military wouldn't be as advanced as the Soviet's ITTL while the US side would be more so than the Reich's but still not advanced as OTL's counterparts with the lack of Operation Paperclip and experience from the Western front of OTL. Not to mention that the US would have a nuclear advantage over the Nazis since, even if they are able to get some nuclear weapons, they could not be able to outnumber their opponent's; though I could imagine they could compensate with chemicals and bioweapons.

So with that out of the way how would this war develop in say at least a decade after the Reich defeats the USSR in the early to mid 40's and has a "ceasefire" with the Allies? or is there more to this admittedly little explored scenario?

Hitler or his successor would kick it off.
I'm not surprised that would be the case given the mentality that the Reich would come to blows with the US sooner or later; almost no different than the Soviet belief in the "inevitability" of a war with the West IOTL.

Hmm...most likely Hitler pushes the Nazis down a path that will lead to war. Continuing anti-submarine warfare (which increasingly becomes useless and pointless), developing bigger, badder, more useless bombers, building bigger (more useless) battleships, etc. Eventually he dies without the US actually being beaten. His successor is surrounded by paranoid, mass murdering, psychopaths (and is one himself) and decides the Nazis need a good war to unite behind him. Objections are overridden (with anyone objecting too strenuously being given a sudden case of rapid onset lead poisoning).

The Nazi fleet sails and waves of bombers fly. This ends approximately as well as you might imagine. Near 100% casualties as the vastly outmatched bombers and battleships are ripped apart by American jets (no fighter escort due to distance.)

But a couple of planes got through, dropping nerve gas on *rolls dice* Los Angelos...hmm, that doesn't seem likely. Ah well, in response to this atrocity the US retaliates blasting Germany flat with atomic weapons.

The difficulty here is that there are too many possible scenarios.

How is it arrive at a Cold War? Did the U.S. fight the Reich as IOTL, if so, when? Is the UK still independent, if so what is its status/relationship with the U.S.? What is the status of the USSR/is there still a USSR? Is Hitler still alive, if not when did he die and who took his place? What year is it?

There are vastly differing scenarios depending on the wide variety of answers to each of these questions. There is no more chance that in a MAD scenario ATL 1969 that the two sides would commit mutual suicide than IOTL. In an ATL 1955 the chances are different.

without more definition the answer becomes "whatever you think is probably okay".

Well the scenario in general is one where the Reich defeats the USSR around 1944 and the US defeats Japan at the same time and both sides agree to a ceasefire with the UK being independent of the Reich's influence and remains a firm US ally. The whole geopolitical scene post war plays out similar to the one in that sadly unfinished Valkyrie Rises TL (only that Hitler thankfully bites the dust around 1951), except the whole stage is set for another world war by the time 1960 rolls in. What sets it off is anyone's guess but I say something along the lines of OTL's Berlin Crisis only in the English Channel and the Nazis decide to settle the whole thing through another war (which isn't surprising given their mentality).
