WWI & WWII: Britain Sides with Germany

It's one of those questions in history to be asked, if Britain had accepted the offers of Bismarck an Hitler to ally with Germany during both World Wars. After all, Britain shares an ancestral relationship with Germany. What would happen to Europe, or the world, if Britain sided with Germany?

In order for this to happen one would, feasibly, need a POD well before 1900. Britain was too tied up in preserving her empire, especially before WWI, to ally with a country that they saw as a true threat. You would also need to get rid of decades of Anglo-French cooperation and friendship, IIRC.

there are several threads on this already altough those are so bug that they are more like complete novels...

basicaly it comes down to this alliance owning every one except the usa in 1 of them.

If the British Union of Fascist had won the election(which in OTL put Churchill into power), then this would have happened!

Two things:

1. The BUF didn't stand a chance of winning an election

2. Churchill didn't win an election - he took over the leadership of a national unity government from Chamberlain after the Norway debacle

But wasn't Chamberlain threatened with no-confidens vote if he didn't resign after Norway?

Yes, but there isn't a chance that the BUF can get into power by this point - Mosley was imprisoned in May 1940.

Ancestral relationship? Links with the Kingdom of Hanover is different than links with the Kingdom of Prussia.

Bismarck, unless you are talking about Herbert von Bismarck, was dead by the time of the Great War - and I think Herbert was dead also.

More possible, at least in 1914, was British neutrality.

Had the Germans stayed out of Belgium there is a decent chance that the UK would have chosen to sit WW I out (in which case it would have been the Franco-German war of 1914). Had the Kaiser not wanted his fleet of pretty toy boats, which did him no good at all when the time came, the chances of the UK staying out would increase to very good.

In 1939, the case was very different. Hard to imagine the UK being able to steer clear there.
