Wrestling WI: Eric Bischoff goes to the WWF, Vince Russo goes to WCW in the early 90'

Eric Bischoff once asked the World Wrestling Federation, aka. World Wrestling Entertainment, for a job as an announcer. In around the same time, Vince Russo joined the WWF IOTL. But what if, he and Bischoff swapped roles, and ended up in different companies. What if, Bischoff was hired as an announcer, while Russo was hired for the WCW Magazine (If they had one at that time), and eventually made it to the writing staff. How might the wrestling world have changed?

Short answer: WCW would never have been the threat to the WWF that it was IOTL. There wouldn’t have been the Monday Night Wars between federations and, of course, the NWO would have never formed.

Longer answer: Russo’s impact on the WWF wasn’t as big as people make out it was, although admittedly, his contributions to Raw magazine helped develop the show into the phenomenon we know now.

The effect on the WWF may have been different though because Austin left WCW because of Bischoff. With Bischoff in the WWF, he might choose to stay in WCW.

On a larger scale, I think that WCW would still have folded, maybe sooner than it did IOTL. The WWF would still be around and would possibly be in a stronger position than it is now due to Bischoff’s influence.
