Would WW2 in Europe have been prevented if the Republicans won the Spanish Civil War?

Would war in Europe have been prevented on a different Spanish Civil war outcome?

Say a left-wing or left-leaning government was established in Spain following the civil war, and Franco and all the right-wing military generals were executed, would Hitler have been dissuaded from his aggressive policies militarily after losing a potential ally in Spain which is now a major opponent next to France, thereby avoiding WW2 in Europe?

Someone who is better informed please elaborate, but it seems that the spanish civil war was close to pulling France into a civil war. Which would change things radically

No matter who won the Civil War Spain was going to be trashed when the war ended in 1939. If the "Republic" wins the question is which "Republic" is it? A democratic one, an anarcho-syndicalist one, a socialist one, a communist one? IMHO a victorious "Republic" is going to spend some time after the end of the civil war sorting out exactly who is going to rule Spain. To the extent Germany had a dog in the fight their major gain was practical experience, but some of the "lessons" were false, like lightly armed bombers like the He-111 could range at will. Raids on London were not like raids on Guernica (or Warsaw or Rotterdam without air defenses).

In theory a Stalinist-Communist Spain might be "ordered" by Stalin to attack across the Pyrenees when BARBAROSSA happens, but unless the government in Madrid has a death wish that is not happening. The "Spanish question" did stir the political pot in France, but an actual civil war in France was not in the cards no matter who won.

IMHO net result on WWII for Spain being under "Republican" control vice Franco, is not so much. Changes yes, but otherwise not much.

In a word, no. Hitler was willing to fight the British Empire, the Soviet Union and the USA at the same time. Needless to say there isn't much you can throw on top of that as a deterrent.

Suppose France declares strongly against the coup early, instead of going "both sides"? Do the Germans and Italians still get involved? In either case, a lot of Spanish gold doesn't end up in Russia.

Spain goes Communist (as in Stalinist variant) and completely under the control of USSR will change the way WW2 fought, but won't exactly stop the alt conflict.

But that could result in Emboldening of USSR who will attack first instead of purging their military, resulting in German vs USSR war. Which resulting in UK pinched their collective nose and give some aid to Germany and Finland.

Which resulting in Stalin ordering communist Spain to attack across Pyrenees and supporting Communist Rebellion in France, which turned France against the Communists.

In which Japan seeing USSR is busy, decides to attack Mongolia and Siberia instead.

FDR suddenly died and Henry Wallace, which is now commie sympathizer, end up ordering US to attack Japan.

Chiang, seeing that Japan is currently screwed, also joins in attacking Japan.

Britain end up attacking the US Atlantic Fleet, preemptively. Causing US to try to invade Canada.

At least that was one of the Weirdest HOI4 Britain Campaign I had after actively sabotaging Fascists in Spanish Civil War.

It depends on what you consider 'the' or 'a' Spanish civil war?

If France and GB jump in to support the republic and win within months (preventing Soviet take over) then maybe that would stop it?
