Would these personal unions work

-Luzon-Zhuang personal union under the Tondo dynasty
I know that the Tondo dynasty is secretive and have isolationist tendencies in fact they never gave or rarely gave China tribute and have it's own problems like problematic vassals in their own area(Luzon) but if they are given the rule of a rebelious Zhuang state which seceded from China via marriage and personal union can they handle both and would they conquer Taiwan?
-Two Sicilies, Serbia and Bosnia under the Capetian House of Anjou
Can they handle both of those Kingdoms and even catholicize Serbia.
-Byzantium and Persia
Will this personal union work.

Serbia won't be Serbia without Orthodoxy. Then it would be Croatia, but using Cyrillic instead. Although, I suspect that practice would end if Serbia is converted early enough.

Byzantium and Persia is ASB.

By the time Serbia exists in any recognizable form, it'll be too late to Catholicize it. Orthodoxy is too crucial to Serbian identity.

Exactly, Serbian and Croatian identity is based more on religion than language or ethnicity - but then a Catholic ruler claiming Serbia will get in trouble with the King of Croatia...

The distances are huge and given the seas in the area there will be times of the year that there could be no communication between the various bits of the Kingdom.

My guess is that if it did happen it would break apart after one generation, even if the Han Chinese allowed another Kingdom to exist in the Middle Kingdom (which I doubt).

Inter- religious Unions won't really be possible, since neither the elites nor the people would accept it, and just appoint another ruler.

Yep, but I think a brief common rule in those areas because of a common overlord can make the culture of both stronger, I think it might make the Tondo dynasty less isolationist to it's neighbors and a more stronger common identities for either the people of Zhuang area and Luzon, the people of Luzon did not really distinguish themselves by dialect/language before the spanish came, I think it can be like Poland-Lithunia since both have buddhist elite.

I agree that it could be good for both nations, but I can't see the Ming's allowing it. They are paranoid about maintaining the Middle Kingdom unsullied and this would allow outside influence on mainland China.

I think the Middle Kingdom needs to be attacked by nomads like Mongols for it to last a hundred years unless if the nomads attack the Zhuangs too.

I think a catholic serbia would not even use cyrillic they would not be distinguishable from croatians buy I like a capetian croatia..

I'm not sure if one could have a situation where you have a Roman-Persian personal union. Even if there's a marriage between a daughter and a son of a shan and an emperor (or vice-versa), the two are too different - what would be necessary to be accepted by one would ensure their rejection by the other.

And controlling the other with the military forces the other had...neither managed it OTL.

Serbia and Croatia...Serbia could be conquered by a Capetian/Angevin Two Sicilies etc. (though why it would bother I don't know), but it being a personal union seems an unlikely alliance even if there isn't actual hostility per se.

So...as others have said really.

I really wonder why a catholic Serbia = Croatia or orthodox Croatia = Serbia. Even before the churches split the two groups were different enough. There is so much more than religion that separates the two groups. Making religion the main difference is generalsiation of the worst sort.

A personal union between Bosnia, Serbia and Two Sicilies would face the same problems Anjous in Hungary had. Venice on the sea, restive slav magnates and the emerging Ottomans from the east. Not to mention what ever trouble might be brewing in Italy.

What, pray tell, are the other differences of consequence?
