Would Germany have followed Ernst Röhm??

FYI guys. If you can't type a German ö, which admittedly is hard on English keyboards, use "oe" instead. That's the proper work around.

So Roehm, not Rohm.

You can type ö using some alt-numpad combination, but I can't remember how off the top of my head. I have a list of those alt-keys bookmarked though.

If I am not misremembering the Stalhelm & related organizations had been forced to merge with the SA. Many member of those organizations did not care for the merger & while they were retained as members on paper their participation or support in a coup is problematic. if it come to a civil war Rohem might find a noticable portion of the SA deserting for lack of sympathy with his goals, and personal habits.

Oh, I agree. I mentioned the Stahlhelem and others as SA opponents when I said added to the mix. Maybe I should have been more clear. Sometimes I write something, expecting people to read my mind.

What I wanted to say is that Roehm would be so deeply unpopular as to alienate virtually everyone. How many of the nominal 2 million members of SA would remain loyal, anyway?

However, one cannot exclude the possibility that Roehm might pull off something unexpected and try to establish a government. Short lived as it might be. If they managed to secure a few major cities, then Reichswehr would have some real trouble rooting them out.

This seems to be the likely outcome of a Roehm putch. A few days of fighting, maybe even a couple weeks, and the breakup of the nazi party as everyone else either deserts or was killed in Roehms initial takeover.

Anything more seems to require a more effective leadership of the SA, either eliminating Roehm in some earlier PoD, or using him as a figurehead.
