Would a US more involved in WW1 have given Hitler second thoughts about declaring war on the US?

Hitler didn't think much of the US in the immediacy before WW2, either assuming the US would be too self-absorbed to care or too incompetent to put up a real fight if they did.

Had the US entered WW1 earlier and played a larger role in the overall allied victory, would that have changed Hitler's mind and strategy with how to deal with a US come the 2nd world war?

If the US entered WW1 earlier, the butterflies resulting from this might end up preventing Hitler from ever getting close to power. He might even die in battle for all we know.

But let's assume for whatever reason, politics in Germany still play similar to OTL and Hitler rises to power. I'm not so sure he would have second thoughts. His main beliefs I feel would be to knock Britain out as soon as possible or defeat Russia thereby ensuring a continental invasion by the U.S. virtually impossible. America's military is quite small relative to the other great powers and they need to travel thousands of miles across the ocean after getting all the available men ready for combat which will take months, even years.

There's a question in that case whether Hitler would have come to power at all, if only because an earlier US entry and an earlier victory might have prevented the Bolsheviks from coming to power. See my post at https://www.alternatehistory.com/fo...e-operation„barbarossa“.433527/#post-16279796 for why I believe that Hitler would probably never have come to power without Bolshevism.

Hitler respected the US industrial power, but not the US military. The problems of the US Army in the Great War were part of the popular narrative inter war & Hilter was cognizant of those. His main concern was US support for Britain, particularly industrial support. Through 1941 his naval chiefs had assured him their blockade strategies would prevent sufficient exploitation of the US industry. As 1941 spun out its was starting to look like the blockade strategy was failing, and a more direct attack on the US needed to neutralize the export.

Without a Pacific war its probable a DoW follows anyway in early 1942. Hitler had discussed declaring war on the US several times in 1941, dismissing it as not necessary at the moment. Evidence of US assistance to the USSR was increasing as 1941 expired, more aggressive efforts to supply Britain were underway. As the weeks poass the odds of a DoW go up substantially. US actions similar to the occupation of Iceland were on the table. Executing any one of those could trigger a DoW as well.
