Would a more aggressive War of 1812 lead to a more stable Maritimes?

In the timeline I am working on, Britain does much better in the war of 1812 due to an influx of royalists during the Napoleonic wars. They cripple America and take much of the northwest territory. This leads to Anglo-American relations being much more tense and hostile throughout this timeline leading me to ask, would such tensions benefit the Maritimes?

The basic logic here is that with the prospect of conflict, naval bases would be more important. We might therefore see growth in cities like St. John's, Halifax Charlottetown and Sydney

Halifax and St. John would be bigger, maybe St. John's. Everything else probably goes much similar. What you really need is more industry or fewer people. Either keep the freight rate subsidized and let a trickle of industry develop or let the railroads advertise for colonists and let a significant amount of the population to emigrate to get the population to normalize.

I must respectfully admit: Halifax was and is already such a hugely built naval base for Britain I can't see it becoming even bigger somehow, especially considering that while individual USN ships kicked serious butt vs RN ones, the overall tide (heh!) was still quite within Britain's hands. Same for Sydney potentially becoming a neo-Louisbourg and St. John's, both of which had okay harbors but weren't Halifax-tier and had more value in being the keys to the St. Lawrence entryway and close to the Newfie Fishing Banks that trained so many sailors in the first place.

Certainly this more expanded Canada will be more populated all-around, including the Maritimes by default, but in their particular case with the addendum "but not THAT much."
