Would a late iraqi victory in the iran-iraq war lead to revival of pan arabism

Would late Iraqi victory in the Iran-Iraq war in either 1988 or 1989 lead to some revival of pan Arabism and Arab Nationalism

Would such a defeat lead to the overthrow of the Iranian government

How enthusiastic would the rest of the arab countries be about rallying around a triumphant Saddam Hussein, at that particular point in history? (Serious question, not rhetorical)

I think you'd see more of just sighs of relief from the various Arab rulers at Iran's comeuppance and resultant squashing of radical Islamic fervor.... it would mean more stability in their own nations...

I don't think it would-it would lead to Hussein having he what he always wanted-being biggest power on the block in the Arab World.

Pan-Arabism was a forties-fifties ideology and had been discredited four over thirty years.

By most measures Iraq did win the war, except it was a pyrrhic victory.

Yeah, the war ended in 1988 basically because of a series of Iraqi battlefield victories. So I assume the OP is talking about a more comprehensive, decisive victory.

I think this might lead to Pan Arabism being quite succesfull for while before falling once again. A Swan song so to say.

Arabian Swan Song.

technically, the excuse behind the war was control over the Shatt Al-Arab waterway that divided the two in the south... Iraq claimed the entirety of it and Iran claimed it out to the centerline. So, any 'victory' would have to include Iraqi control over that. IIRC, the war ended with the original border intact, so the best you can say about the war was that it was a draw...
