Does the poor drone co-pilot Goose still die or do we get a more redeeming ending this time?

Naval exercises seem more prone to unexpected interference and accidents than local land exercises. Even if a soldier or two get shot by mistake it’s just two soldiers. Or vice versa if they shoot a civie. But naval ones carry a lot greater risks and potential body count.

This but with more dead, or with supply ship carrying ammo/fuel...

Then you add sharks and a giant tornado, a nuclear power plant, a pregnant woman, a love story and Michael Bay as realisator....

Time to revisit 'Seven Days in May'

Always liked that story in that a lowly Major of Marines was able to wipe the floor with a USAF Four Star

I just wish the actor's roles had been reversed. I never liked Kirk Douglas as an actor. His clenched jaw emoting is just too Ralph Meeker one note for me. Old Burt could play anything, including a choo choo train.

I know we don't practice ATL film criticism here, but Michael Bay flipping hamburgers as a paid EXTRA in that movie in an ATL to ours sounds like a vast improvement.

Back in the late 1980s my Marine reserve company was riding a charter bus to some national guard training facility for the weekend. The bus driver distributed cassette tapes and literature outlining the impending UN invasion from Canada. Exactly why i never saw warnings of UN attacks from Mexico I don't know. It was always from Canada in the literature I saw.

The British, having no other convenient foothold, were bound to operate from their nearest available colony in North America. That is what the British do and did as they are a sea-power. This is entirely normal.

From here...

Order of battle

(Major General Robert Ross)

Note: there were a total of 1350 Marines[37]

    • Detachment of Captain Maynard, 100 men all ranks
    • Detachment of Captain Waring, 100 men all ranks

    • 1 Battalion, Baltimore Rifles, Major William Pinkney, 150 all ranks
    • 2 Batteries, Baltimore Militia Artillery, ? x 6-pounders, 150 all ranks
    • Annapolis Militia, Colonel Hood, 800 all ranks
    • Battalion, Maryland State Militia, 250 all ranks
    • Harford County Light Dragoons 240 horse
    • Virginia Militia Dragoons, 100 horse (amalgamated with Laval's Dragoons during the battle)
    • 60th Virginia Militia Regiment, Colonel George Minor, 700 all ranks (Arrived late and without ammunition and held in reserve)
    • The James City Light Infantry, 100 all ranks. (their colors were captured by the British)

    • 2 x 18-pounder guns
    • 3 x 12-pounder guns
    • 23 x 6-pounder guns

From here.

For the earlier reason... a pure act of brigandage and pillage I must say. Unjustified. However...

Directing his men to block the Americans, Sheaffe found that his forces were being steadily driven back. An attempt was made to rally around the Western Battery, but this position collapsed following the accidental detonation of the battery's travelling magazine. Falling back to a ravine near the fort, the British regulars joined with the militia to make a stand. Outnumbered on land and taking fire from the water, Sheaffe's resolve gave way and he concluded that the battle was lost. Instructing the militia to make the best terms possible with the Americans, Sheaffe and regulars retreated east, burning the shipyard as they departed.

Exactly the opposite of what happened at Bladensberg. The British regulars abandoned the Canadians to their fate.

US Marines and sailors at Bladensberg fought as the rear guard and stood as long as they dared allowing the US militia to escape. Disgraceful route, but understandable given the utterly incompetent American leadership shown. Ross was a good British commander. Led from the front.

=============================================

Bladensberg is an example of what can [go] wrong in a US military "exercise..." or the lack of discipline in execution, thereof.

US army lack of discipline, then.

US army lack of discipline, recently.

I, for one, still have a burning desire to invade Canada
Wonderful our Canadian army of armored polar bears and grisly, mobile moose and elk along with our famous beaver infantry supported by our Canada Gesse air force will meet your army at the border. May I remind you that while you may have more humans living there we definitely have a lot more wild animals and will make mince meat of your troops.

PS along the coast our beluga wales, killer wales and swarms of Cod along east coast and salmon along west coast will overwhelm your coasts so do not think you will get any support from elsewhere.

Yes and what did we get in return Starbucks, talk about the raw end of a deal. We export high class and sophistication and we get drudgery and over priced coffee.
At least we have started the brainwashing of the American masses I mean education with the take over of Burger King by Tim Hortons. Soon the American people will be begging to join Canada.

The geese will refuse to fly, and hold up the infantry and cavalry by waddling around in the road.

I understand that Canadians were once the most evil and vile tempered people on the planet. Then one day, a mighty wizard named Tim Horton collected all their rage, and cast it into the geese.

Everyone lived happily ever after.

Except the geese. They are still pissed.

Yes they are our spies reporting on the Americans comings and going. They migrate everywhere in the US, protected by law so that they can report to the Canadian Mother goose everything that is going on. Oh she not very happy by the way but we not allowed to talk about it.
